Just a reminder that our Tennessee Aquarium field trip will be on Tuesday, March 26th. We will meet at the back bus port at 7:15 a.m. for a 7:30 a.m. departure. The bus doors will not open until 7:15 a.m. as I will be in a meeting with chaperones in my classroom. Please make sure to arrive on time (7:15) as we will pull out at 7:30 and will not be able to wait for late arrivals. We have a very tightly packed schedule and a late departure would result in cadets missing some of their activities.
Since we are meeting right as the buses arrive and teachers will be parked in the back bus lot, please do not drive into or park in the bus parking lot. Instead, either park in the front of the building and walk through the school to the bus, or drop your child off in the normal car rider line. If you choose to drop off, please make sure you are in the car rider line no later than 7:10 to make sure your child is one of the first ones dropped off so he or she can get to the bus on time. Students must also wear their GSAA uniforms on this training exercise; that means they should be wearing jean or khaki pants/shorts and the GSAA t-shirt. If the weather is going to be cool, it might be a great idea to wear a long sleeved shirt under the GSSA t-shirt.
Two snacks and lunch are included in the trip, so students do not need to bring any food, gum, or candy. They are allowed to have plain water on the bus as well as a pillow, blanket, book, or notebook. Students may bring a plain camera, but they should not bring electronic devices such as cell phones, games, i-pods, or i-pads. Students may bring no more that $20 for the gift shop at the aquarium. All students will need a small backpack or bag to keep up with their snack and any money or the camera they may have with them. The possible movies we will be watching on the bus are: Free Willie and Dolphin Tale 2.
We should return to the back bus port between 5:15- 5:30 p.m.; if we are running more than 10 minutes late, I will post that on the blog by 4:30 so you don't have to sit waiting at the school. If your child is planning to ride home with a friend, please place a note granting permission in your child's backpack so that it can be given to me when we return to Vaughan that evening. It would also be a good idea to provide that parent's number in case we need to make contact.
If your child takes medication, please pack it in its original container in your child’s backpack. Please include detailed directions and a note authorizing others to give the medicine. Your child's chaperone is in charge of his or her medication and will make sure that all doses are given throughout the day. On the morning of the trip there will be time for either you or your child to give one of the trip chaperones the medication to be administered. Please do not bring medications or notes to me on the morning of the trip; with all of the details to be handled as we leave, it is very easy for me to misplace or forget something.
