Dear Parents, I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher this year! I will work hard to make sure that your child has a successful year, and I know that with your ongoing support we can achieve this goal.
I want to tell you a little about myself. I grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee, received my degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and eventually moved to Nashville. I lived in Nashville for six years before moving to Atlanta, where I found my husband, Rick. I say found because we met in high school, but had not seen each other in eight years. Our reunion came when I found him walking down an exit ramp in Midtown, while I was stuck in traffic. He was coming out of a Georgia Tech basketball game. We recently celebrated our ten year wedding anniversary, and we have an eight year old daughter named Lexi and a three year old son named Luke.
This year will be my tenth year teaching and I have found that the more I teach, the more I learn. I believe that each and every one of us has talents to share and in turn teach one another. I will foster this belief in my classroom and ask the students to gather and present information to the class, so that we may learn from each other. Additionally, I will utilize a variety of projects, activities and assessments, so that each student has the opportunity to let their talents and skills shine. I look forward to teaching your child, and I especially look forward to the learning community that we will create together.
