I was born in Great Lakes, Illinois and my family moved to Chicago shortly after. We moved to Georgia in 1989. and I have worked in the education field since graduating high school. I worked in After School Programs and as a substitute teacher while attending college.
I graduated from Kennesaw State University December 1999 with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and an add-on certificate in Middle Grades Education. This will be my twelfth year teaching, all of which have been at Vaughan. All of my years were spent in 4th grade, with this year being my fourth year in 5th grade. I love teaching all subjects, but my favorite is math. I am also excited about meeting all of the new faces in our classroom this year!
I live in neighboring Paulding County. My husband, Kenny, and I will celebrate our 10 year anniversary this December. We have two sons. Our oldest, Brennan, is 8 1/2 years old and will be in Third Grade at Vaughan this year. Brennan keeps us quite busy. He loves playing and watching all sports, especially baseball and basketball. He plays for Oregon Park and HYBA. Our youngest, Bailey, is 51/2 years old. Bailey will be at Vaughan this year for Kindergarten. Bailey keeps us just as busy playing baseball, and he is very excited to go to school with his Big Brother this school year.
When I am not at school I enjoy participating in sports activities, scrapbooking, and couponing. Our family is huge baseball and football fans. We cheer for Georgia Southern and Penn State each fall.

All About Mrs. Ryan
Hi! my name is Mary Beth Ryan. I am from Cincinnati, Ohio. Although I am a "Yankee" by birth, I have lived in the Atlanta area for almost 30 years! So I guess I can qualify as a southerner! I graduated from Xavier University and moved to Atlanta for my first teaching job at Tapp Middle school in Powder Springs. This is my twenty-third year teaching, taking some time off to stay home when my boys were young.
I have been married for 28 years to Mike Ryan. He is a clothing manufacturer in the Kennesaw area. We have two wonderful sons, Sean and Michael. Sean,24, graduated from North Metro Tech and Michael,16, is a sophomore at Harrison High School. We have been blessed with two great kids!
During my time off, I love to cook and visit the North Georgia mountains. Lazy boat rides, long walks and time with my family is very relaxing!
I look forward getting to know you and your child this year! It is going to be a great 5th grade experience!
