- Wed Nov 3rd-Tues Nov 9th is Boosterthon Week for character development, fitness, and fundraising (& collecting pledges!)
- Wed Nov 10th is the Fun Run Rain or Shine!!! More info in the coming weeks!!!
- There will be 3 separate 1 hour Fun Run sessions
o Grades K-1 starting around 10am
o grades 2-3 starting around 11am
o grades 4-5 starting around 12 noon
- Mark your calendars and come on out to cheer on the kids!!!
Hi Vaughan Parents, I hope that by now you are completely aware that the Boosterthon Fun Run Kicks Off this coming Monday November 1st with school-wide Pep Rallies in the gym! Parent volunteers are welcome to meet up in the gym by 12:10pm and get ready to have a good, loud time! You will get a really good idea of just how much fun and excitement is generated throughout this 9 day interactive fundraising program=) Students will be able to start collecting pledges on Monday November 1st and pledges can be safely and securely entered on-line at our Vaughan Elementary Mini Boosterthon Site at http://boosterthoninfo.com/vaughanrockets/ from Mon Nov 1st through Tues Nov 9th. Information will be sent home with each student this Monday for you to review. Team Days start on Wed Nov 3rd and go through Tues Nov 9th where Chris Magouyrk and his Boosterthon Team Members will be on our school campus spending 4-6 min in the classrooms to teach character lessons and award incentives. Fundraising is necessary to be able to support our school and our teachers so that our kids can have the best possible learning opportunities and classroom environment. We expect the Boosterthon Fun Run Program to enable us reach our financial fundraising goals, while also promoting physical fitness as well as character education...and best of all, it is FUN!!! The Boosterthon Fun Run Team spends 200-300 hours organizing and running the event, freeing up our teachers and administrators to focus on education! Finally, remember that EVERY student will receive a “Boosterthon All-Star” t-shirt and gets to participate in the Fun Run regardless of pledges raised. Please know up front that: o Some ELMO Document Cameras for classrooms o First in Math on line math program for use in school as well as at home o Handwriting Books The Boosterthon Fun Run will take place at a 1/16th mile track by the Bus Port There will be 3 rounds of 1 hour Fun Runs. Approx start times: K-1 will start at 10am 2-3 will start at 11am 4-5 will start at 12 noon Rain plan: Fun Run will take place same day in the Gym during specials Boosterthon will provide tunnel, music, water, cups and sharpies Volunteers/Room Parents needed to mark laps on kids’ shirts as they run Teachers can then be freed up to take pictures and cheer! As the holiday season approaches, please open your heart to those in need. Your small contribution, along with many others, can provide a feast to some families who otherwise may go without. We’ve had another successful year with this program and are so very proud of all of our participants. All of the art work has been displayed on the cafeteria walls (Literature, Dance Choreography, Musical Composition, and Film Production displayed by list of participants), and will remain there until Friday, October 29. After this date, your art work will be available for you to take home. Reminder, all of our first and second place winners have moved on to the next level (Tom Mathis Council [TMC]). Congratulations to all of you. After judging has taken place, if your artwork has won, you will receive an invitation to attend the TMC Award Ceremony, which will be held on Tuesday, November 30. Also, the PTA Reflections Program Theme Search for 2012-2013 are due no later than Friday, November 5, 2010 to the state office (location listed on the form). The student who submits the winning entry will receive $100. The winning theme will be presented at the 2011 National PTA Convention.
