The Kids in Micro-g competition is a design challenge sponsored by NASA in which students propose experiments that can be conducted on the International Space Station. Last year, for one of their classroom projects, fourth and fifth grade Target students designed microgravity experiments. These experiments were judged by several teachers, and the top ten were sent to NASA to compete in this nationwide contest. From all across the country, nine experiments were chosen as winners by NASA scientists and astronauts, and these experiments were successfully conducted on the International Space Station.
We are very excited to announce that two of the nine winning experiments were created by Vaughan Elementary Target students. The national runner up prize was awarded to Cammie Gantek and Collette Smith for their Bottle Blowing experiment, and the regional prize was awarded to Caleb Ruotolo for his Water Absorption experiments.
