Welcome back to another great year of Target! The homework section of the blog is designed to help you organize long term projects and to provide study guides for major tests and quizzes. It will not be used to list weekly homework assignments because I want you to be responsible for listening in class, writing down your homework, and then completing it on time and to the best of your ability. Also, you may have different homework from your classmates or other squads, depending on how wisely you used your time in class and what you were able to accomplish that day. The only exceptions to this will be Target Orientation homework, when a weekly assignment requires a download from the blog, or when I need to provide you with websites or other resources to complete your work.
4th and 5th Grade
After our orientation today, you should have circled several items on your Target Tally as homework; those items were: collage, report cards, connected compounds, and download your GSRA Fall Semester Dictionary. Directions for the collage and well as the download link are listed below.
Collage Assignment
To start the school year, I’d like to learn a little more about you, the things you love, what motivates you, and what activities or ideas you find interesting. What’s your story? What’s behind the smile you bring with you to class each day? What was your path to Vaughan? What motivates you to reach your goals? What brings you balance in your life -in other words, what do you do besides school? Use whatever you wish to illustrate your story. You may draw, paint, use pictures from magazines, words and phrases, small objects, or pictures you and your family have taken. All items should be affixed to the 12x18 inch paper I gave you today at orientation. Be prepared to share your collage in class next week; we are all looking forward to learning a little more about you and getting to know your story.
3rd Grade
Your homework for this first week is to complete the math assignment "Discovering Math Patterns" and the brainteaser "Word Chains." I would also like you to download and print the River Kid Fall Dictionary.
